Alipate Naiorosui remains the Chief Executive of the Housing Authority even though he is now facing charges of alleged Abuse of Office.
Housing Authority Board Chairman, Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga has confirmed that during the time of the alleged offence, Naiorosui was a board member of the Fiji Ports Corporation and this has nothing to do with Housing Authority.
Naiorosui appeared in court this afternoon charged with abuse of office.
It is alleged that in December of 2006, while Naiorosui was the Deputy Chairman for Fiji Ports Corporation Ltd, he approved the payment of $177,000 in early retirement for Herbert Hazelman.
Naiorosui's plea has been deferred and he has been released on bail on the sum of $10,000 with a surety.
Magistrate Tusshara Rajasinghe ordered Naiorosui not to re-offend and not to interfere with any witnesses.
The case will now be called on 2nd August.
