FMF Foods Limited CEO Ram Bajekal said the business sector will continue to flourish with the number of incentives provided in the National Budget.
Bajekal said the good thing is that money is not pulled out from the business sector.
Consumer Council of Fiji CEO Premila Kumar said apart from other things, two key things announced in this budget will really help ordinary Fijians.
The “City Wide Squatter Upgrading Project” announced in the 2014 budget has been welcomed by the Pacific Community Network consultant Father Kevin Barr.
Barr said the project which will be undertaken next year will certainly improve the quality of life for those who live in informal settlements.
The project caters for incremental upgrading and will be implemented in partnership with the People’s Community Network.
A budget of $500,000 has been allotted for this program.
Police Commissioner Ravi Narayan said pay increase for Police officers means increased productivity.
A budget of $111.7 million has been provided to the Fiji Police Force which is an increase of $19.5 million.
$1.4 million has been provided for the purchase of forensic biology and DNA laboratory equipment, pathologist equipment and a drug analysis machine.
$2.3 million has been allocated for the renovation of police institutions and quarters.
And $200,000 has been allocated for clothing, equipment and stores.
$1.4 million has been provided for the renovation of police stations at Valelevu, Namaka and Nakasi.
Water Authority of Fiji CEO Opetaia Ravai said they are delighted with the increase of their allocation as they are embarking on major projects next year.
The authority received $129.6 million which is an increase of $32 million from last year.
The increased funding is for capital works projects totaling $71 million and an operating grant close to $58.6 million.
Fiji Chamber of Commerce president Peter Mazey said it is a business friendly budget.
Fiji Retailers Association president Himmat Lodhia said the 2014 National Budget is the best budget the country has ever had.
President of the Fiji Hoteliers and Tourism Association Dixon Seeto said the dream of developing the Tavua to Korovou area in tourism has become a reality.
Tourism Fiji received $23.5 million for next year.
