Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu visited rice farmers in Korokadi, Lekutu and has told them that they will be assisted with a rice harvester.

The farmers told Seruiratu there is shortage of rice harvesters and the Minister told the rice farmers that they will be assisted so that they can harvest their produce.

The farmers also raised concerns regarding the drainage problem and road conditions in Korokadi.

Seruiratu told the farmers that they will look into the issues.

Meanwhile, rice farmers in the Northern Division will now have a better chance of financially securing their future following the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Rewa Rice Limited Complex earlier in the week.

Fiji imports around $40 million worth of rice annually.

This is equivalent to around 50,000 tonnes of rice.
