“I often champion the great diversity we enjoy in Fiji as the key source of our strength as a people.”
These were the words of Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama at the official opening of the brand new Fiji-China Friendship Pavilion at Terry Walk in Suva.
Bainimarama says we owe our unprecedented success as a country to every Fijian and owe it to the effort that ordinary Fijians give the nation every day.
Bainimarama adds since their arrival, the Chinese‑Fijian community has been an integral part of that rich cultural diversity that has made us the dynamic island nation Fiji is today.
He stressed the beautiful new space is open to all and stands as a monument to the enormous contribution our Chinese community has made to our development as a nation, and as the name suggests, to the strong bonds of friendship that Fiji and China have always shared.
Bainimarama acknowledged the gracious gift from the Chinese Government that recognises an important milestone for Fiji’s Chinese community and that is the 160th anniversary of their residence in Fiji.
