Messi misses penalty as Barcelona loses to Espanyol

Lionel Messi missed a penalty as Barcelona suffered a first defeat since August in their Spanish Copa del Rey quarterfinal first leg match against Espanyol.

They lost 1-0.

Espanyol scored the winning goal in the 88th minute.

The second leg is scheduled to be played next Friday.
