The total cost of damage from Tropical Cyclone Gita in Mato-kana, Nukuni and Lovoni villages in Ono i Lau Island is $324,162.
This has been confirmed by the National Disaster Management Office officers who carried out the assessment on the island of Ono i Lau.
The cost of damage in Lovoni village is $45,915, Nukuni village which recorded the highest damage is at $63,998 while the cost of damage in Matokana village is $8,755.
The total cost of damage in the yam plantation is around $13,000 while the total cost of damage in the banana plantation by Tropical Cyclone Gita is $8,755.
A total of six houses were affected in Matokana. Three house were destroyed and three have been partially damaged.
In Nukuni, eight houses were destroyed while 6 houses was partially damaged.
