Those are the voices of more than 350 people who took to the streets of Suva last night to be part of the Reclaim the Night March that coincided with International Women’s Day.

Also part of the Reclaim the Night March which is about stopping rape and violence against women was Archbishop Peter Loy Chong who had stressed that all families should have the teachings of respecting women.

He acknowledged the families that came out to be part of the march adding there needs to be more men speaking out against the violence against women and children.

64% of women in Fiji have suffered some type of domestic violence and 55% of children in the country have witnessed domestic violence in their home.

The Reclaim the Night March which was organised by the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre began from the Suva Flea Market and ended at the Government Buildings.
