The Fiji Police Force has recorded a total of 14 cases of sacrilege from September 2017 to February 2018.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Defence and National Security Ratu Inoke Kubuabola while responding to a written question by SODELPA MP Mosese Bulitavu, on how many places of worship were attacked since that last sitting of Parliament in September last year.

Kubuabola says three of these cases are being dealt with in court and investigations are continuing with the other 11 cases.

He says that a dedicated task-force are working around the clock investigating these cases of sacrilege and as a result arrests have been made.

Kubuabola says the Ministry can assure every Fijian that the police will not end their investigations with just those carrying out these attacks and will get anyone who has benefitted from this crime or has in any anyway assisted those perpetrators.

He highlighted that these places of worship includes the Shiv Mandir in Namara Road Nabua, Nadera Catholic Church, Caubati Mandir, Tagusu AOG church in Sabeto, Hope AOG in Sabeto, Maharishi Triaath Dhaam temple, Kalili Settlement Church, Kavanagasau Temple in Sigatoka, Shree Sathya Dharam Ramayan Mandali, Vunisinu Methodist Church, Waidalice Mandir Temple, LDS Church, Vishnu Bhavan Temple and the Gopal Sahu Mandir.
