A 64-year-old man convicted of a count each of aggravated burglary, theft, resisting arrest and damaging property will be sentenced on the 22nd of this month.
Kelepi Ledua had broken into the Bargain Saver Shop and had stolen $75,744 cash on 7th August 2016 in Suva.
Defence lawyer Lisiate Qetaki informed the court that while Ledua has been in remand his wife has left him and he is unaware of the whereabouts of his kids.
State lawyer Lavenia Bogitini asked the court to consider the sentence of five years which is at the higher end of the tariff.
Judge Justice Salesi Temo said that the tariff has to go up because a lot of burglaries are happening and the tariff has become redundant.
