Fiji Airways Men’s National Sevens coach Gareth Baber will be keeping a close eye on upcoming talents at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s this weekend.
Baber has released about eleven players to play for their clubs today and tomorrow.
Some of these players include Keponi Paul, Isake Katonibau, Apisai Domolailai, Terry Tamani, Samu Bale, Apenisa Cakaubalavu and Waisea Nacuqu.
64 men’s teams, 12 Women’s teams and 8 Oldies teams will be participating this weekend.
Defending champions Tabadamu Blue is aiming for their fourth title in a row.
Tabadamu will have the services of Terry Tamani, Samu Bale and Apenisa Cakaubalavu.
Police will have Sakeo Raloa, Keponi Paul and Kitione Taliga
Army will have Isake Katonibau, McDonalds Saunaka will have Masivesi Dakuwaqa and Sanivalati Ramuwai while Ratu Filise will have Amenoni Nasilasila.
Some of the top teams that will be featuring include defending champions Tabadamu, Ratu Filise, Wardens, First Light Taveuni, Police, Army and Saunaka.
The total prize money is $42,000 with the Cup winner to walk away with $11,000 while the runner-up will get $5,000.
The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will be held today and tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium.
Looking at the opening games at 8 this morning, Nawaka will take on Aisokula Somosomo Taveuni at the ANZ Stadium, Roko Sports Nakavu Namosi will face Pacific Warriors Nairai at Bidesi, Holy Cross Parish Wairiki Taveuni will take on Bumble Bee Duavata Young Boys at Buckhurst Park 1 while Army Loggies will face Southwest Brothers at Buckhurst Two.
