Bench warrant has been issued for two accused who failed to appear in court today.

Samuela Tokolaulevu and Sakaraia Filipe are charged with a count each of aggravated robbery and assault.

It is alleged that the two accused robbed a Chinese national by entering his home and stealing cash and assorted items to the total value of $6,300 on 4th August last year at Mariko Street.

Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe stated that granting bail has become some kind of joke to accused people.

He adds that when the accused failed to appear in court their sureties should come to court and inform the court of their whereabouts.

Defence lawyer Lavenia David informed the court that Tokolaulevu has breached his bail condition by going to Gau Island and further stated that he is stuck there.

The case has been adjourned to the 27th of this month.
