Energy Fiji Limited is carrying out an independent investigation to ascertain the cause of electrocution which allegedly caused the death of a 25‑year‑old man on Saturday afternoon.

An expert is carrying out the investigation.

The incident occurred at Navatu Settlement in Naitasiri where the man is alleged to have touched a clothes line which fell on a meter box.

It is alleged two children aged 3 and 5 were playing with the meter box outside and they had switched it on as the victim was touching the clothes line.

The 23‑year‑old man tried to rescue the victim and was also allegedly electrocuted.

All four were rushed to the Vunidawa Hospital where the 25‑year‑old man was pronounced dead on arrival while the remaining three were treated and sent home.

A post mortem examination will be carried out.
