20 lives have been lost on our roads this year compared to 15 for the same period last year.

15,862 drivers were booked for speeding from the 1st of January till yesterday.

Acting Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu says that 278 drivers have also been caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

Tudravu says that Operation Tatarovi II is now in force and too many innocent lives are being lost at the hands of selfish drivers who think only about themselves and disregard others rights to safely use our roads.

He says they will be working with LTA with the focus on increasing all efforts towards making our roads safer.

Tudravu says that over the next 30 days people will see increased activity not only in conducting routine operations but also carrying out awareness for drivers and pedestrians alike.
