Two police officers are facing charges after two separate assault cases and two people have been charged for stealing 5 marijuana plants from the Exhibit Room at the Koro Island Police Station.
According to the April statistics released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, a Police Officer is alleged to have assaulted his wife which occasioned actual bodily harm while another officer was charged with assaulting a fellow officer whilst he was drunk in Navua.
There were eight juveniles charged with aggravated robbery offences.
The DPP’s Office says there were 3 incidents where the accused and victims were related to one another. Two of these 3 offences were husbands allegedly assaulting their wives with intent to cause actual bodily harm while another husband was charged with disabling with intent to commit an offence. He tried to suffocate his wife. A nolle prosequi has been file to discontinue this case as the woman cannot be located. Police have been alerted about this issue and they are searching for the woman.
There were 39 people charged with a total of 32 counts of separate incidents in April.
