Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem has revealed that on Wednesday the Fijian Elections Office will be running a full scale demonstration of the counting process to the political parties and demonstrate the result management system.

Saneem says that this will give the parties an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the system and its functions to ensure there are no errors in the result management system.

The Supervisor of Elections had earlier highlighted that Political parties will be monitored in terms of funding through frank disclosures by the parties and candidates required under the law.

He says according to the Funding and Accounts of Political Parties and Candidates Section 22 (3) any person who is not a Fijian citizen or a former Fijian citizen shall not make a political donation to any political party or candidate for election to parliament.

He adds that as per Section 8, it shall be unlawful for any political party, office holder of a political party, candidate for election to parliament or agent, campaigner or servant of a political party or candidate for election to parliament to accept any political donation from a company, a body corporate or any other entity.
