Animals Fiji is urging all animal owners to take responsibility of protecting their animals after another horrific case of animal cruelty has emerged.
This is after a dog went missing last Friday in Lautoka and upon pursuit the owners had found that someone had cut off the dog’s tail.
Animals Fiji Co-founder and Managing Trustee, Casey Quimby says from the looks of the injury, it seems as though a very sharp cane knife had been used and had caused injuries to the animals spine.
She says the dog had probably gone out of the owners home for mating purposes.
Quimby says that once an animal is desexed it will not wander about to look for mates.
Under the law, a person can be fined for animal cruelty.
