The Fiji National University’s graduate surveys each April show that between 80% to 90% of students completing their studies in the previous December are employed, a figure that compares very favourably with universities in Australia and New Zealand.

This was highlighted by FNU’s Vice Chancellor Nigel Healey while delivering his speech at the University’s Open Day in Nasinu.

Healey told students that choosing what and where to study is one of the most important decisions they will make in their life as it will change the direction life takes them too and set them on a new course.

Healey adds that FNU prepares students for real jobs and all it’s programmes are co-designed with employers to equip students to be ‘day one, work-ready’ and all programmes requires students to undertake workplace attachments to prepare them to join the labour force.

He adds that FNU judges its performance by the percentage of their graduates who get a job after they have completed their diplomas and degrees.

The Open Days are currently being hosted in Nasinu Campus, Natabua Campus in Lautoka and Labasa Civic Centre in the Northern Division, with the aim of reaching high school students across the country.
