A 19-year-old man remains in police custody for allegedly causing the death of a 7-year-old girl following an accident on Saturday night.
The alleged accident occurred at the junction of Foster Road and Tamavua‑I‑wai after 8pm.
The suspect is alleged to have hit the victim who was crossing the road with an adult and another child.
The man reported the matter at the Delainavesi Police Post whereby officers and bystanders removed the victim and rushed her to CWM Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect is currently in custody at the Totogo Police station.
The road death toll currently stands at 35 compared to 36 for the same period last year.
