U19 boys defending champions, Saint John’s College have begun this year’s Secondary Schools Basketball Championship strongly defeating Gospel High School in their first game 28-19.

First timers, Ratu Kadavulevu School lost their opening match to All Stars 18-13.

The All Stars is made of the U15 national basketball squad who are playing in the tournament as a warm up to the Oceania U15 Championship to be held in Papua New Guinea.

In other U19 matches, Yat Sen Secondary School defeated Tilak High School 27-17 while in the U19 girls division, Suva Grammar School thrashed Tilak 29-8.

In the U15 girls division, Yat Sen Secondary School beat SVC 15-3 while in the U15 boys division, SVC thrashed RKS 32-8.

Meanwhile, Saint Joseph’s Secondary School are currently playing SVC at the FMF Gymnasium.
