A man in his 60s is in police custody for allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old student last night.

Police say the suspect was allegedly drunk when he committed the alleged offence in a village in Ra whereby he punched the victim who was rushed to the Rakiraki Hospital before being transferred to the Lautoka Hospital as he was having breathing difficulties.

Investigations continue into the alleged assault.
