The three assessors in the trial of the man alleged to have raped a woman in Holland Street in 2016 are expected to return on Wednesday with their opinion.
The closing submissions were made today and High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo has adjourned the trial to Wednesday for summing up.
In his closing submission, defence lawyer Lisiate Qetaki said his client does not have a gold tooth but in evidence the complainant said the accused had a gold tooth.
Qetaki said even the best witness can still be mistaken.
He said this was a case of mistaken identity.
The defence lawyer adds that DNA was found but the DNA did not match Rainima.
In their closing submission, the prosecution said the woman was pushed down the railings at Holland Street, robbed and threatened.
The prosecution lawyer said the woman identified the accused in sets of photographs and also identified him in court.
The prosecution said the experts that gave evidence said that it is highly improbable the accused would have left DNA because of the environmental circumstances.
Isoa Rainima is charged with seven counts of rape and a count each of assault with intend to commit rape, sexual assault, criminal intimidation and robbery.
Rainima of Nanuku Settlement in Vatuwaqa raped a 23-year-old tertiary student seven times.
