Sayed‑Khaiyum says the Festival of Lights is something that we must cherish and continue to celebrate in spirit and in practice.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says the Hindu brothers and sisters celebrate in a religious manner but we all celebrate and participate in the spirit of Diwali.
He says that the message of Diwali is the triumph of good over evil.
However he says the common identity is under threat as some political parties want to take it away.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says we should not compromise the celebration of Diwali or any festival in Fiji just because a handful of politicians want to win public office.
He says their message on Diwali is to enjoy it and share it with everyone.
