Senior Officer at the Ministry of Women and Children Raijeli Mawa stated that Fiji has the 4th highest statistics on Domestic Violence after a survey was conducted which included 20 other countries.

While speaking at a session held at the Naval Base in Walu Bay, Mawa urged the Navy officials present that the Awareness campaign should not come to an end after the Sukuna Bowl but that they should continue to advocate on this issue

The awareness conducted today was in line with the theme of this years Sukuna Bowl tournament which is Zero Tolerance to Violence against Women and Children.

Mara says that men and women have different roles in society adding that some of these role can be changed as some roles are god given while others are just learnt behavior.

She adds that men are also given some privileges that women don’t receive and that this can be seen in the statistics that the UN had compiled.

Over 50 officials from the Fiji Navy attended an Awareness session organised by the Joint Sukuna Bowl Committee.
