The case against the former school principal of a secondary school in Lautoka, Gulsher Ali has been discharged by the Lautoka Magistrates Court.

He was accused of indecently assaulting one his students in February this year.

The case was discharged after it was heard in court that the girl who lodged the complaint against the teacher had lied about the alleged incident.

Lautoka lawyer, Iqbal Khan represented the teacher in the case.

The man will now seek to be reinstated to his former position.

He was not suspended after the case was taken to court but was transferred to the District Education Office in the Western Division.
