Voices of the Athletes program today received a trophy from the International Olympics Committee in Suva.
This was in recognition of Voices of the Athletes supporting sports and promoting physical activity, education, sports development, promoting peace, sustainable development and sports at the service of humanity and gender equality.
While receiving the trophy, champions of the program, Hilda Vukikomoala and Junior Valentine stated that the program has helped develop them as athletes with a sense of social responsibility.
Vukikomoala who is a Chess player, says that the program has deserved this recognition as it brings young sports people together.
Valentine adds that the program develops athletes to become role models in their respective communities.
The Voice of the Athletes Champions are athletes from various sporting federations who have either represented Fiji regionally , internationally or are current Fiji reps.
