Liverpool have extended their lead at the top of the English Premier League to an imposing nine points with a devastating attacking dismissal of Arsenal by 5-1 at Anfield ‑ with hat‑trick hero Roberto Firmino the inspiration.
Arsenal took the lead after only 11 minutes when Ainsley Maitland‑Niles scored.
Firmino equalised in the space of two minutes while Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah extended Liverpool's lead to 4-1.
Firmino completed his hat‑trick in the 65th minute.
Meanwhile in other matches this morning, 7th placed Wolves defeated 2nd placed Tottenham 3-1, Brighton defeated Everton 1-nil, Fulham defeated Huddersfield 1-0 while the match between Watford and Newcastle finished 1-all.
Liverpool leads the EPL points table with 54 points, followed by Tottenham with 45 points, Manchester City is 3rd with 44 points while Chelsea is 4th with 40 points.
