Labasa Town Council Acting CEO Mohammed Faiz Ali has confirmed that the Council is working in coordination with the Commissioner Northern’s Office in preparation for Tropical Cyclone Mona.
He says that business owners have been advised of the measures of preparation that needs to be taken and several businesses in and around Labasa Town have begun clearing rubbish and placing shutters on the windows of their businesses.
Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea has highlighted that all emergency departments in the North are on standby and will be ready to assist the public in light of the current weather situation.
Vocea adds that they are closely monitoring the current weather situation and will move people as and when the need arises.
Authorities in Seaqaqa say that they experienced an early morning down pour however, currently they are experiencing light showers.
Labasa Report:
In Labasa, Police say last night there was heavy rain experienced for a few hours and heading into this morning they are experiencing cloudy weather conditions with a few showers.
National Fire Authority personnel in Labasa say the weather in the past 12 hours has been relatively clam with a few showers.
NFA says that people continue to pack supermarkets trying to prepare themselves in light of the current weather situation.
Authorities in Taveuni have said that there are no strong winds, however are ready to assist people should the situation worsen later today.

Savusavu Report:
Savusavu Police say they have been experiencing showers since last night however , currently the weather has been relatively calm and humid.
Cakaudrove Report:
Cakaudrove Provincial Administrator Kalivate Rabuka highlighted that they are constantly in contact with Turaga ni Koro’s of the villages in and around Savusavu who are spear heading preparations and has confirmed that evacuation centres in villages in Cakaudrove are ready should there be a need to activate them.
Officers at the National Fire Authority in Taveuni have said that they have not experienced strong winds, however they are ready to assist people should the situation worsen.
Western Report:
Meanwhile, the Acting Commissioner for the Western Division has confirmed that all teams are on stand by in preparation for the Category 1 Tropical Cyclone Mona.
Jioji Satakala says the weather in the West is sunny at the moment and it is calm.
Satakala says emergency teams have been briefed and they are on stand by.
Rotuma Report:
Rotuma is currently experiencing few showers and rough seas.
This was confirmed to Fijivillage by the Rotuma Police.
They say that they are aware of the system that is approaching them and have taken precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, residents of Rotuma have already started putting up shutters as they prepare for the worst that Tropical Cyclone Mona may bring.
Rotuma’s Emergency Operations have also being activated.
