A 29-year-old man who is alleged to have raped his 10-year-old nephew has today told Judge Justice, Riyaz Hamza that he was allegedly assaulted yesterday at the Suva Remand Centre.
He told the court that he was beaten with a hose pipe on his back by a remand officer.
Justice Hamza then asked him if he knew the officer to which the man said no.
Justice Hamza has ordered that the man be taken to Totogo Police Station to lodge a complaint and that a medical report be filed.
He said that if this is true then it is serious and he will have to deal with these people.
The accused’s lawyer had requested that he be kept at Totogo Police Station.
