Two Fijian rugby players have been named alongside 13 other players for the European Professional Club Rugby’s European Player of the Year award.

Last season’s winner and Fiji Airways Flying Fijians lock Leone Nakarawa who was chosen for playing a key role in Racing 92’s qualification to the Heineken Champions Cup quarterfinals has been nominated for the top award again this year.

Viliame Mata was also included on the back of several outstanding displays during the pool stage.

The rest of the nominees include Ireland’s Tadhg Beirne, Scotland’s Finn Russel and England’s Mako Vunipola.

The winner of one of the most prized individual accolades in the world game will receive a special gold medal as well as the Anthony Foley Memorial Trophy.
