The Government and the Opposition took swipes at each other this afternoon as Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama delivered a speech focusing on the benefits of Fiji’s Presidency of the United Nations Climate Change Conference or the Conference of the Parties 23.

In his ministerial statement, Bainimarama highlighted that the COP 23 Presidency gave Fiji opportunities such as funding from the Asian Development Bank to improve Fiji’s Water Management System.

He said these funds are already at work and combined with other fund sources totals USD$220 million.

At the end of his speech, Bainimarama took aim at what he called misinformation by the Opposition.

In SODELPA’s response, Niko Nawaikula said the Prime Minister was a cry baby and that Bainimarama should develop a thick skin when he comes to parliament because it was a house of debate.

He also said the government has failed to achieve the real purpose of COP 23 when you look at what happened with the Freesoul Real Estate Development in Malolo.

NFP Leader, Biman Prasad said there is also misinformation from the government.
