Fiji Airways Drua playmaker Alivereti Veitokani has won the Fiji Tattslotto Fiji Sportsman Award while Sally Yee of Fiji Table Tennis won the Fiji Tattslotto Fiji Sportswoman Award at the 2018 Fiji Sports Awards.

Veitokani’s dad Jolame Turaganiqali received the award on Veitokani’s behalf.

In an interview with Fijivillage, Turaganiqali recalled the time when Veitokani started playing rugby and says that this achievement signifies how far Veitokani has come in his career.

Veitokani was recognised for his achievement at the 2018 National Rugby Championship where he was awarded th 2018 NRC Rising Star.

He was also recognised for his contribution in the Flying Fijians win over France last year.

The 2018 Fiji Sports Awards also recognised Drua coach Senirusi Seruvakula as the winner for the Fiji Water Coach of the Year award and his team as the SportsWorld Team of the Year.

Other awards and the winners are as follow.

Paradise Beverages Technical Official of the Year Award was won by Della Shaw Elder of Weightlifting Fiji, Powerade Sports Volunteer of the Year was won by Leilani Ravatu of Fiji Hockey Federation, Sports Photograph of the year was won Jonacani Lalakobau of The Fiji Times.

ONOC Hanisi Visanti Sports Administrator of the Year was won by Anthony Ho of Fiji Table  Tennis, Tappoo Sports Organisation of the Year was won by Fiji Rugby Union, the Weet-bix Young Female Athlete of the Year was won by Filomena Faliki of Fiji Table Tennis while Vicky Wu of the Fiji Table Tennis Association won the Vodafone Young Male Athlete of the Year.

The Fiji National Sports Commission Governance Award was given to Badminton Fiji along with a prize money of $1,000.
