Subsidized e-transport cards for senior citizens and persons living with a disability will only be topped up by the amount they have used at the end of the month.
Director Social Welfare Rupeni Fatiaki clarified that these subsidized cards have a maximum top up of $40 every month.

He also stressed that if the $40 is not fully utilized at the end of the month, the system will only upload the balance of the amount utilized.
A mother of a 39-year-old handicapped man raised concern as to why her son’s subsidized e-transport card was only topped up with $25 last month and this month was topped up with $14.

When contacted by Fijivillage, Fatiaki explained that if in the duration of the month an individual only used $20, then the system will only upload the balance of $20 and not $40, as many tend to think.
He has also stressed that every month government through the Department of Social Welfare pays Vodafone the funds and they upload into the individual’s card through their system.
