A man has pleaded not guilty to one count of rape before High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar today.
It is alleged he raped a 19-year-old woman on the 23rd of February this year in the Central Division.
The woman had gone to give her father food at his workplace on the day of the alleged incident and it is alleged that the man dragged her into the rental vehicle he was driving.
He is alleged to have punched and raped her.
State Lawyer, Rajneel Kumar told the court the man had admitted in his caution interview that the victim had slept in his vehicle.
The matter has been adjourned to the 2nd of August for mention and the man has been further remanded.
