A heavy rain alert remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller Islands.
The Nadi Weather Office says that this is due to a tropical depression that lies over Rotuma and is gradually moving east-southeast and will affect the northern parts of the group tonight.
People in Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands can expect occasional showers, heavy at times and a few thunderstorms that will begin to clear by Wednesday.
The Weather Office says people in other parts of the country can expect cloudy periods and some showers.
