The Suva soccer team will have their first training session with their new coach Kamal Swamy tomorrow at the Fiji FA grounds.

This was confirmed by Suva Soccer President, Ritesh Pratap who says Swamy will be coaching the team on a long term basis.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Pratap revealed that he had been hoping to get Swamy to coach the Suva side for the past two years.

Pratap says since Swamy has a teaching position, he will not be able to move to Suva immediately but they hope for a transfer to Suva by the beginning of the third term of school.

He adds that in the meantime Swamy will travel to Suva in the weekends when he will coach the team. In Swamy’s absence, Assistant coach Ravuama Madigi will be overseeing the side.

Swamy had previously said the Lautoka Football Association was going through a restructure and since then he had not been approached by any of the officials in regards to coaching the Lautoka team.

Swamy had lead the Lautoka side into winning the Vodafone Premier League last season and the defending champions are currently placed first in the VPL points table.

The Suva soccer team has been without a coach for some time since former Suva Coach Intiaz Khan stepped down from his position in April due to differences within the team.

Meanwhile, Tavua will host Ba in the Vodafone Premier League at 3pm tomorrow at Garvey Park.
