Ninety five percent of the 800,000 available tickets for the Cricket World Cup have been sold.
According to organisers it is believed a third of these ticket holders will be new to cricket.
Organisers say 150,000 tickets are held by women and children, while some 250,000 have been purchased by south east Asian fans.
The Cricket World Cup begins tonight, with hosts England taking on South Africa at 9.30 tonight.
The group stage format is a round‑robin, where all ten teams play each other once, in a single group.
This means a total of 45 matches will be played, with each team playing a total of nine matches.
The top four teams from the group will progress to the knockout stage.
The final will be played on the 14th of July.
