Former Radio announcer Pio Ratuwaqa has pleaded not guilty to a count of manslaughter in the Suva High Court.
He is also charged with one count of driving whilst having alcohol in excess of the prescribed limit. This case will be tried in the Suva Magistrates Court.
Ratuwaqa is alleged to have been involved in a road accident which occurred along Nasese in Suva at 1am on 30th March where Ratuwaqa allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road at Gardiner Place.
A team from the Totogo Police Station managed to rescue him and the passenger from the vehicle which was partially submerged in water.
The 26‑year‑old woman who was the passenger was rushed to the CWM Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ratuwaqa's bail has been extended and the case has been adjourned to the 21st of August.
