The Health Ministry says it will continue to expand the number of smoke‑free settings and make the product less affordable.

Assistant Health Minister, Alex O’Connor says they will continue to provide further support to smokers to quit.

He says nursing staff across Fiji are trained to provide interventions that will help people quit smoking.

The Health Ministry says they will also continue to build capacity to provide the social support needed to help smokers quit.

O’Connor says they are also actively working to scale up the declaration of tobacco free settings such as tobacco‑free villages, tobacco free‑community halls, tobacco‑free markets, tobacco‑ free workplaces and tobacco‑ free health care facilities.
