The Jaguares hung on to reach their first Super Rugby semi‑final after winning an epic arm wrestle 21‑16 against the Chiefs this morning.

Every tackle in this nervy quarter‑final was greeted with a loud cry from the passionate support and, hit by hit, the Chiefs saw their hopes of a third title evaporate into the Buenos Aires night.

The Chiefs were afforded one final chance of remarkably snatching glory with a miracle play after the hooter, but they were too deep in their own half and the crowd went wild when a penalty ended the contest.

Meanwhile, defending Super Rugby champions, the Crusaders thrashed the Highlanders 38-14 in the first quarter-final last night.

In other quarters, the Hurricanes will face the Bulls at 7.35 tonight while the Brumbies will host the Sharks at 10.05pm.
