South Africa has been knocked out of the Cricket World Cup after being beaten by 49 runs by Pakistan this morning.

Pakistan can still make the semifinals after climbing two places to seventh place.

They may still need to win all three of their remaining games, starting against group leaders New Zealand and hope other results are in their favor as well.

Pakistan has won just two of their six matches whereas a struggling South Africa has been won only one of their seven matches.

Pakistan will now play New Zealand at 9.30pm on Wednesday while South Africa will play Sri Lanka at 9.30pm this Friday.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will play Afghanistan at 9.30 tonight.

The group stage format is a round robin, where all ten teams play each other once, in a single group.

This means a total of 45 matches will be played, with each team playing a total of nine matches.

The top four teams from the group will progress to the semifinals.

Australia currently lead the points table, New Zealand are in second place, England is in third place while India come in fourth.

The first semifinal will be played on the 9th of next month at 9.30pm while the second semifinal will be played on the 10th of next month at 9.30pm.

The final will be played on the 14th of next month.
