Nadroga has successfully defended the Farebrother Trophy after beating Suva 24-13 in the third challenge this afternoon.

It was a brutal affair at Prince Charles Park and a capacity crowd witnessed top level provincial rugby. 

Suva led 8-0 early in the game with an Enele Malele penalty in the 6th minute and a try from winger, Misaele Petero who scored on the back of a solid scrum after outnumbering the Nadroga defence.

The Emosi Vucago captained Nadroga side registered their first points in the 18th minute through a penalty from Amenoni Nasilasila.

Nadroga’s Rupeni Nasiga dived over in the corner in the 26th minute to score Stallion’s first try after sheer determination from their forwards.

Suva’s Peni Nawai was yellow carded late in the first half for an infringement at the scrum.

The 14 men Suva side started the second half well and Misaele Petero got his second try for the Capital City side after great teamwork.

Nadroga secured six quick points from the boots of Amenoni Nasilasila.

Soon after, Rusiate Nasove capitalised on Suva’s sloppy defence and dived over the tryline in the 62nd minute to register Nadroga’s second try.

Nadroga continued the pressure and forced Suva to make mistakes in their territory.

Nasilasila kicked another penalty in the 67th minute to give Nadroga the 24-13 lead which was the final score.

Nadroga will now face Lautoka in the 4th challenge.
