From 2017 till now, the government has spent over $42 million in developing the whole of Lomaiviti group.
Speaking at the opening of the Lomaiviti Provincial Council meeting in Sawaieke Village in Gau today, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says from this, $12 million has been used in the upgrading of roads and wharfs and the construction of bridges.
Bainimarama also highlighted that he has been in discussions with the Minister for Infrastructure in upgrading more roads in the rural areas and confirmed that $250,000 has been given to the Ministry for Agriculture in supporting rural farmers which also includes yaqona farming.
He adds that $7 million has been used for the education of the children in Lomaiviti and stated that the free education scheme, free bus fare scheme and free books scheme will continue.
The Prime Minister also stressed development is not for us but for our children and their children who will be the future of this great nation.
