Fiji born France based player, Virimi Vakatawa has been re-called into the France Rugby World Cup squad to replace Geoffrey Doumayrou who was ruled out last Thursday after picking up a leg injury in training.

The 27‑year‑old has been out of favour with France Coach Jacques Brunel for a considerable length of time, earning the last of his 17 Test caps for France in the Six Nations win over Scotland in Edinburgh in February last year.

Vakatawa’s inclusion for the final squad further highlights how Fijian‑born players are set to have a part to play at the Rugby World Cup in Japan with other nations.

He is expected to feature for France when they take on Scotland next Sunday.
