There are no reports of any injuries after a single storey concrete house was destroyed in a fire in Tamani Lane, Milverton Road this morning.
Six people including two children were in the house and were safely evacuated with the help of neighbours.
Police officers at the scene say the crime officers will interview a child who is alleged to have been playing with matches.
Neighbour Maciu Vatuloka who was one of the first people to see the house on fire says the fire started around 7.30am.
Vatuloka says they saw flames coming out of the window from a bedroom at the back of the house.
He says the occupants of the house were asleep at the time and they had to call and knock on the door to wake the family up.
He adds their first instinct was to save the two children inside the house.
