A 21-year-old man has been found guilty for causing the death of his 43-year-old father in December 2015 by the Lautoka High Court.
It was heard in court that Avinaash Kamal threw a burning kerosene stove at his father following an argument with him.
While giving his judgement, Judge Justice Daniel Goundar says he accepts the admission made by Kamal that he knew that throwing a burning kerosene stove at a person will set the person ablaze as true.
Justice Goundar says he feels sure that Kamal knew there was a substantial risk of serious harm to his father when he threw burning kerosene stove at him and setting him ablaze and that he was not justified in taking that risk.
The assessors unanimously found Kamal guilty.
