The Minister for Health, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says it is heart wrenching to hear stories of mothers abandoning their babies.
Reacting to the incident where a new born baby girl was found lying on a patch of grass on the side of the road in Samabula yesterday, Waqainabete says we are in a place where we need to remind ourselves how important life is.
Waqainabete says this is why they have always encouraged young women who are pregnant to come early to the hospital for perinatal care.
The Minister says they have the support process in place in collaboration with the Ministry of Women to support young pregnant women.
