Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says he cannot trust  SODELPA MP, Niko Nawaikula saying that e-transport top up machines are not working at the Lautoka and Nadi bus stands.

This is after Nawaikula’s question in parliament on when the top up machines will be fixed at those bus stands as he knows that they are not working.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the government will conduct it’s own checks.

While answering a question by SODELPA MP, Ro Teimumu Kepa for Sayed-Khaiyum to update parliament on policies and measures being implemented by the Ministry to minimise abuse of the e-transport subsidy in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals 1, 4 and 10, the Attorney General says he is amazed that this question was allowed by the business committee.

Sayed-Khaiyum says Ro Teimumu should know that Sustainable Development Goal 1 says no poverty in all forms by 2030, SDG 4 talks about free quality primary and secondary education for all students by 2030 and SDG 10 deals with reducing inequalities.

He says the actual implementation of e-transport was precisely to meet these goals.

Sayed-Khaiyum says if anybody is abusing the e-transport, it would be contrary to those goals.
