The Vodafone Fiji U23 soccer team is through to the semifinal of the OFC Olympic Qualifiers after beating Papua New Guinea 3-1 at Churchill Park yesterday.
Savenaca Baledrokadroka scored for Fiji in the first half while Patrick Joseph and Tito Vodowaqa scored in the second half.
This win sees Fiji go level with Vanuatu on six points, who beat Tonga 8-0 earlier but are behind on goal difference.
Barring any upsets, Fiji is expected to face New Zealand in the final who have qualified for the semifinal along with the Solomon Islands following their wins yesterday.
Fiji represented the Oceania region in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The winner of the tournament will qualify for next year’s Tokyo Olympics.
