A man who raped and sexually assaulted a minor has been sentenced to 10 years, 2 months and 9 days imprisonment by the Suva High Court.
The incident happened in September last year and at the time of the incident the man was 35 years and the victim was 15.
It was heard in court that the victim was on her way to a shop in the morning to buy potatoes as per her aunt’s request.
While sentencing the man Judge, Justice Vinsent Perera said that man saw this young girl walking alone that morning and decided to make her his prey to satisfy his lowly desires.
A non-parole period of 6 years, 2 months and 9 days has been set.
