FASANOC CEO, Lorraine Mar has received a commendation medal at Association of National Olympic Committee 24th General Assembly in Doha, Qatar.

She was among six other recipients who received the medal.

The Oceania National Olympic Committee has congratulated Mar for receiving the ANOC Meritorious Award for her outstanding contribution to sports and the Olympic movement in Fiji.

Mar joined the Fiji National Olympic Committee in 1988 and has been a sports Administrator for more than 30 years.

Her current work in sports in Fiji is strengthening the National Olympic Committees relationship with National Federations by way of championing the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee’s  “Resurgence Agenda” through the Oceania Sports Education Program.

In 2005, Lorraine was awarded the International Olympic Committee Women in Sport Trophy for Oceania in recognition of her outstanding contribution in promoting the development and participation of women and girls in sport.

After a sports career spanning more than 10 years in badminton and tennis, she was voted Fiji Sportswoman of the Year in 1984.

In 2009, Lorraine successfully completed the Managing Olympic Sports Organizations programme and in 2011 the International Olympic Committee Executive Masters in Sports Organisation.
